Heuga, now an Interface brand in Europe, invented the carpet tile.

1973

Carpets International was founded by Ray Anderson and introduced free-lay carpet tile to America.

1982

Compact Carpet of Canada is acquired and named Interface Flooring Systems (Canada), Inc.

1982

Carpets International becomes Interface Flooring Systems, Inc.

1988

Interface, Inc. is established as the holding company.

1988

Heuga is acquired, making Interface, Inc. the world's largest and only global producer of carpet tiles.

1993

Envirosense Consortium is founded as a non-profit organization focused on providing proactive solutions to Indoor Air Quality problems.

1993

Interface U.K. and Heuga join to create Interface Europe.

1994

Intercell Flooring is acquired, providing cable management systems.

1997

Interface Flooring Systems, Canada is registered to ISO 14001:1996

1998

Interface Flooring Systems introduced a carpet tile product made with 100% recycled nylon face fiber and a layer of 100% recycled vinyl material in the backing.

Interface Flooring Systems, Canada is registered to ISO 9002:1994

1999

Interface Flooring Systems introduces the first climate neutral durable good, Solenium®, and creates a whole new category of flooring, Resilient Textile Flooring.

2000

Interface Flooring Systems introduces Entropy®, the first carpet tile designed for a non-directional installation.

2001

Interface Flooring Systems, USA is registered to ISO 14001:1996

Interface, Inc. Receives the GSA National Furniture Center National Evergreen Award

Interface Flooring Systems USA is registered to ISO 9001:2000

2003

Interface Flooring Systems becomes the first carpet company to receive EPP (Environmentally Preferable Product) certification for its products.
