Since Interface launched the Cool Carpet program in August 2003, the IFS and
BPS sales teams have sold more than 1 million square yards of Cool Carpet.
These sales have resulted in the offset of more than 16 thousand metric tons of
CO2, through certified emission reduction credits. To put this in
relative terms, the 16 thousand metric tons of CO2 offset through
the Cool Carpet sold is equal to 1.6 times the total CO2 emitted
from all of the energy sources used in IFS' Troup County manufacturing
facilities in 2002. This volume of gas would fill the Washington Monument 14,
482 times.
Cool Carpet is an environmental initiative by Interface to offset the
greenhouse gas emissions that result throughout a carpet’s life cycle. To achieve
this, Interface partnered with the Climate Neutral Network, a third party certifier who
validates emission offset projects. All greenhouse gas emissions reductions
from Interface's projects are certified by the Climate Neutral Network as
Climate Cool™ products that achieve a net zero impact on the earth's climate.
