Interface Receives First Environmentally Preferable Product Certification for Carpet

Interface has earned Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP) Certification for all i2™ products and all Interface® products specified with GlasBac® RE backing.*

Through Executive Order 13101, commonly referred to as the "Greening of the Government," the Federal government defines 'Environmentally Preferable' as products or services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared with competing products or services that serve the same purpose. Environmentally preferable is more comprehensive than single attribute claims, such as recycled content.

Adding this independent certification to our products is not only a major accomplishment in our industry, it is also a great convenience for our customers. It's very easy to become confused when trying to choose products that have a positive effect on the environment, but our new certification makes it clear, WITHOUT A DOUBT, that our products are environmentally preferred and responsible. Products carrying this stamp of approval are also ideal for any LEED™ building projects.

Scientific Certification Systems, an independent third-party certifier, awarded Interface the distinction after weeks of rigorous evaluation. The evaluation process examined each phase of the product's life cycle, including resource consumption, product manufacturing, product use, and end of life. Our commitment to the quality of our products and to reducing the impact they have on the environment has never been stronger.
