Jim Hartzfeld, VP Sustainable Strategy, was recently elected Chairman of the Board of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The USGBC Board represents a diverse cross section of the industry's most highly respected green building pioneers. By voting for Interface and Jim to lead them through a time of great growth and opportunity, these pioneers confirmed Interface's credibility as one of the leaders in green building.

The USGBC recently held its first annual Green Building International Conference and Expo in Austin, Texas. During the three-day conference and exhibition, the USGBC awarded individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions toward the advancement of the green building industry. Ray Anderson, founder and Chairman of the Board of Interface, Inc. was honored with the Green Business Award for his extensive efforts to spread the message of sustainability. In an industry that relies on petroleum as a major component of its products, Mr. Anderson has led Interface associates to discover more environmentally supportive processes and encouraged innovative, progressive thinking throughout the Interface companies. Through the Interface Model of Corporate Sustainability, Interface has successfully reduced its environmental footprint by nearly one-third.
